What is a .crate file?
It's the small file Serato uses to store a crate. It holds the track list and where each file was on that computer - but not the music itself. That's why a crate from someone else, or from an old backup, shows up empty or broken.
Does it download the music for me?
No. CrateFind only finds tracks you already own on your own drives. If you don't have a track, it'll be listed as missing - it won't fetch it from anywhere.
What happens to tracks it can't find?
They're listed as missing before the crate is built, so you know exactly what's absent. The crate is still created with everything that was found.
